Punjab Interior Department has issued a threat alert to Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan and Attock jails in view of the fear of terrorist attack in the jails. In a letter issued by the Home Department, the jail authorities have been directed to make immediate arrangements. The letter said that security audit of all prison employees should be conducted by law enforcement agencies and complete checking of the prison by bomb disposal squad. It further states that contractors and laborers working in the jail should also be thoroughly checked, officers and employees who are known to come out of the jail should also be thoroughly checked. The post has also instructed to conduct security drills by police and rangers. It should be remembered that the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi was banned for 2 weeks from meeting all the prisoners including the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan due to the fear of being targeted by terrorists. Sources had said that in the light of intelligence reports, the Punjab Home Department has decided to ban meetings with all the prisoners, including the PTI founder, in Adiala Jail. Sources further said that a search operation will also be conducted in the jail by the Home Department of Punjab. According to the post, the meeting ban will apply to all the prisoners, including PTI founder Imran Khan.
