ICCI donates Rs.5 million to Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has donated an amount of Rs.5 million to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund in order to provide relief to the flood affectees. Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry presented a cheque of Rs.5 million to the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during a visit to PM Office. Hanif Abbasi former MNA, Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh Senior Vice President, Muhammad Faheem Khan Vice President ICCI, Khalid Iqbal Malik, Mian Akram Farid, Zubair Ahmed Malik, Mian Shaukat Masud, Sheikh Amir Waheed former Presidents ICCI, Sheikh Waheed, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Muhammad Naveed Malik, Ch. Javed Iqbal, Rana Qaisar, Akhtar Hussain and were also present at the occasion.

Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President ICCI for donating Rs.5 million to provide relief to the flood affectees and said that the business community always cooperated with the government in catastrophic situations, which was laudable. He said that this flood has caused massive destruction and the government needed maximum resources to rehabilitate the flood victims.

Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry informed the Prime Minister that ICCI was also setting up a relief camp in its premises to collect donations in cash and kind in order to provide relief to the flood affectees. He appealed to the business community to come forward and make maximum donations to ICCI Relief Camp in cash and kind including tents, blankets, dry food items that would be provided to the flood affectees.

Muhammad  Shakeel Munir lauded the efforts of the government to provide relief to the flood affectees and said that the business community was ready to provide all possible cooperation to the government in reducing the sufferings of flood victims. He also paid tributes to the relief efforts of Pakistan’s armed forces for flood affectees and said that armed forces were always at the forefront in helping the affectees of every catastrophe, which was laudable. He stressed that the first priority of the government should be to provide shelter to those families who have lost their houses in the massive floods.

ICCI President said that floods have caused extensive loss of human lives, livelihood, houses, livestock, crops and infrastructure and emphasized that we have to play our role as a nation to provide maximum relief to the flood victims in order to help them restore their lives and properties.
