Great concerns were expressed that US NSA by using a malware used to spy Pakistan top civil and military leadership, asked PTA and Intelligence Agencies to submit a report.

Senator A. Rehman Malik asked for report from PTA that what measures it has taken against the piracy of IMEI numbers as a single IMEI number is used by multiple mobiles for the purpose of terrorism and frauds.

Altaf Hussain’s anti Pakistan statement and MQM workers attack on Media Houses in Karachi was condemned strongly and a report was asked on the matter from IGP Sindh.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Senator A. Rehman Malik chaired an important meeting of the committee today on Tuesday in Parliament House Islamabad which was attended by its members Senator Shahi Syed, Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashahdi, Senator Javed Abbasi, Senator Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamrah and Senator Shibli Faraz and Senator Retired Lt. General Abdul Qayyum attended as special invitee.

The committee strongly condemned Altaf Hussain for anti-Pakistan statement and MQM infuriated workers attack on media houses in Karachi. Chairman Committee Senator A. Rehman Malik said that Pakistan is our beloved motherland and any statement and move against could not be bear at any cost. He said that Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan statement has hurt the feelings of every Pakistani and is strongly condemnable.  Expressing apprehension on the attack on media houses in Karachi by infuriated workers of MQM, the committee chairman Senator A. Rehman Malik asked the Secretary Interior to submit a detailed report about the incident and in next meeting of the committee the IGP Sindh must brief the committee on the issue.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Senator A. Rehman Malik raised the issue of United State’ NSA spying the Pakistan military and civilian leadership. He said that he and many Pakistanis are upset by the news that NSA used malware to spy Pakistan civilian and military leadership that is indeed a malicious act to put our national security at risk. “No country should be allowed to spy other country and it is a highly condemnable act”, said Senator A. Rehman Malik. He said that Pakistan is lacking National Cyber Security Laws that can handle with those who via malwares attack our important national and public installations and try to reach our important information. Senator A. Rehman Malik asked the NTC and PTA to brief the committee in its next meeting that so far what measures they have taken to stop such cyber threats to our cyber installations and to stop spying our leadership. He said a very special kind of malware with codename SECONDATE has been used by NSA to spy Pakistan leadership. He has also asked the Government to take this issue with US officials that why our security has been put at risk by spying our leadership.

Senator A. Rehman Malik also said that IMEI number and Microsoft are being pirated by terrorists and militants for terrorist activities and it is need of the hour to stop the import of million mobiles with single IMEI number and to technologically get rid of such dangerous moves.  Senator A. Rehman Malik asked the Government to bring the draft of bill of National Cyber Security likewise the Cyber Crime Bill was introduced recently.

In the meeting, SSP Sajid Keyani briefed the committee on the murder case Dr. Shahid Nawaz who was killed inside PIMS last year. The committee expressed dissatisfaction on the investigation by police as so far police was failed to identify any killer or find any clue about the murder.  Senator A. Rehman Malik directed the Secretary Interior to constitute a Join Investigation Team comprises of highly experts to investigate into the coldblooded murder of Dr. Shahid Nawaz. Dr. Shahid Nawaz was celebrated cardiologist who was serving the nation very honestly and his death was great loss of the country. A rich tribute was paid to him for his services for the country and Senator A. Rehman Malik desired that a block and ward should be named after his name in PIMS and the committee recommended a civil award for him in recognitions of his services.

Director FIA Usman Anwar briefed the committee on the scam of Grand Hayat Hotel in Islamabad and the committee expressed concerns over the embezzlements in the deal with CDA. Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik said that those who are responsible for it must face the law. Director FIA Usman Anwar told the committee that FIA is fairly investigating the case and an inquiry report to be

 

submitted to the court for further course of action. Senator A. Rehman asked the CDA and FIA that how and why the schedule of payment was changed and what were motives and elements behind this.  Committee asked CDA to submit a comprehensive report to the committee about Safa Gold Mall too which was reportedly constructed on the land of a public dispensary?
