Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has pledged to give 99 percent of his and his wife’s shares in Facebook to charity. Zuckerberg said the shares, currently worth around USD 45 billion, will be given over the course of his life to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a charity set up by him and his wife Priscilla Chan. The initiative will focus on promoting personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities. The announcement was made following the birth of Zuckerberg’s first child.
