Sims Re-verification ! Nadra failed to face pressure

ISLAMABAD ( ABRAR MUSTAFA )

Nadra system it seems to have failed to face the first pressure after awareness of SIM reverification was started by telcos on electronic and social media. It was shocking for many stakeholders that the process nearly overwhelmed NADRA capacity.  The main question that everyone wants to have answer about is what will happen when millions of SIMs may have to be blocked with assistance of NADRA.

On the other hand another issue has become problematic for everyone involved is that many consumers don’t have their thumbprint in NADRA system. These consumers are now flocking towards NADRA registration centers and long lines are common sight. One mobile users said that “Not only was I flustered but really indignant when my mobile SIM could not be verified, owing to a strange logic that my ID card was made before 2004 and my thumb impression will have to be updated or my SIM will be blocked”. There will be many, who will have to undergo the ordeal of standing in long queues at NADRA offices all over the country.

Another consumer stated that ” I belong to a rural area of Dera Ghazi Khan and I had to travel 41km to act on the mistake of my cellular network, Nadra and PTA. at their customer ‘care’ centres, there is a notification, stating every number re-verification costs Rs10 to 30. On what grounds are they charging us because of their own mistake. In context to this ‘great’ initiative, biometric machines, under programming of Nadra and PTA, have been made available in almost 200 cities of Pakistan”.
