The vacant seat of “member enforcement and compliance” in Pakistan Telecom Authority summary has been sent to Prime Minister Secretariat. Reliable sources in Telecom Authority indicate that Abdul Samad will be the new member enforcement and compliance. Presently he is functioning as Director General Enforcement and Compliance on temporary basis.
Two other names were also included in the summary namely Khawar Sadeeq Khokar and Kamran Ali. Khawar Sadeeq has previously served as member Technical in PTA whereas Kamran Ali has was member law in Ministry of IT and has also served in PTA as Director General Law.
It is interesting to note that the summary recommends appointment of Abdul Samad which is against the rules and regulations. As per rules and regulations a summary must be sent without any recommendation. But since this summary has included a recommendation, many in telecom sector have shown reservations on it. This was shown during ceremony where he was being congratulated and seen as a member Enforcement and Compliance.
