Petition against PTCL VSS withdrawn

The petition against Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) Voluntary Severance Scheme (VSS) filed by an ex employee, Rana Muhammad Hassan, in Lahore High Court, has been withdrawn.

The petitioner’s lawyer asserted his views but the arguments could not satisfy the honorable court. PTCL lawyers briefed the court about the VSS scheme and transfers, postings and the court acknowledged the assertions.

The petitioner’s lawyer retrenched the application soon afterwards as the honorable court endorsed PTCL’s view.

Previously, Islamabad and Lahore High Courts as well as NIRC also declined to issue stay order against the various measures of PTCL,  against applications filed by a few ex employees.

When contacted, PTCL Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) HR, Syed Mazhar Hussain said that the scheme was introduced for the betterment of the employees but a few ex employees have been lodging unreasonable complaints in various courts so that the company can be pressurized to offer them the said scheme.

He further clarified that VSS cannot be offered to dismissed employees and that all the schemes of PTCL are according to the law as no court has accepted the erroneous stance of the petitioners.

He reaffirmed that the welfare of the employees is our main focus and we will always take measures for the betterment of the employees and the company as per the laws of the country.
