Imran Khan’s Sisters Arrive at Supreme Court to Deliver His Letter to the Chief Justice

ISLAMABAD  (  WEB NEWS  )

The sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan reached the Supreme Court to deliver a letter written by him to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Alima Khan stated that the letter concerns various cases and the judicial system. She added, “The PTI founder has written this letter to the Chief Justice, and we have come here to deliver it.” However, the Supreme Court’s police authorities stopped Alima Khan and her sister from proceeding toward the Chief Justice’s chamber.

Police officials said that no one can be allowed forward without prior permission, and entry toward the Chief Justice’s chamber requires authorization from the Registrar’s office. They also noted that the Chief Justice’s court session had already ended.

At this point, PTI’s lawyer, Sardar Latif Khosa, argued that they wanted to deliver the PTI founder’s letter to the Chief Justice and that Alima Bibi was a petitioner, therefore she should be allowed access. But the police refused permission.

Later, Imran Khan’s letter was formally submitted to the Supreme Court. PTI’s counsel, Sardar Latif Khosa, carried the letter to the acting Registrar’s office, where it was filed.

In the letter, Imran Khan claimed that “the doors of justice have been shut on me and my wife.” He wrote that he had been kept in solitary confinement for 772 days, locked in a 9×11 foot cell, which had been turned into a “cage.” He stated that more than 300 politically motivated cases had been registered against him, which was unprecedented in Pakistan’s history.

The letter further stated that his wife, Bushra Bibi’s health was deteriorating, yet no doctor was being allowed to examine her. She was being kept in solitary confinement, denied access to treatment and even books. He argued that under the law, women prisoners are entitled to leniency in bail, but Bushra Bibi was being deprived of this right.

The PTI founder complained that he was not allowed to meet family or lawyers, nor even given the basic right to speak with his sons over the phone. He described this as not mere imprisonment, but a calculated form of psychological torture aimed at breaking the morale of the people.

He alleged that thousands of PTI workers and supporters were still languishing in jails, while his nephew, Hassan Niazi, had been taken into custody by military authorities, tortured, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He added that his sisters and nephews were also facing false cases and imprisonment.

The letter claimed that the judiciary was being used as a weapon to dismantle a political party. Imran Khan wrote that PTI had won the February 8, 2024, elections, but the public mandate was stolen overnight. He alleged that the 26th Constitutional Amendment was used to legitimize this “electoral robbery.”

He further complained that important cases such as the Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana references were not being scheduled for hearing, while other cases involving Bushra Bibi and PTI leadership were also being indefinitely delayed. He appealed that the Islamabad High Court be directed to urgently hear critical pending appeals.

Imran Khan warned in his letter that when the rule of law is buried, nations fall into internal decline. He stressed that justice should not come after decades, like in the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case, but at the right time.

In his appeal to the Chief Justice, Imran Khan requested that he be allowed to talk to his sons on the phone and that Bushra Bibi be granted immediate access to a doctor for medical treatment. He concluded by stating that the people of Pakistan view the Supreme Court as the last refuge for justice and that judicial independence must be restored.
