Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has called for the government and the Muslim world to act collectively and immediately against Israel to protect children in Gaza from starvation.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a press conference, held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman highlighted the worst kind of man-made devastation in Gaza and said that the US President, Donald Trump, was hands in gloves with the Israeli premier when it comes to the Gaza genocide. Children in Gaza were compelled to death by starvation and that too in this modern age, he expressed his deep grief.
He added that the situation in Gaza was so grim. Those who were hatching any hope of Donald Trump need to know that he was a fraud.
He said that people from even the European Union countries were protesting against Israel and according to a survey 50pc population in the United Kingdom opposed the Israeli actions. He also urged the Arab nations to mend their ways and stand by the right side of their history. Otherwise, he warned them of backlash by their own people.
He said that the JI had already been playing it’s role in this regard be it funding or protests. He urged all political parties to raise their voice for Gaza. Following the recent skirmishes, he said, the significance of the Pakistani military has increased in multiple folds. Israel is doing the same in Gaza today, what India is doing in Kashmir. He urged the Pakistani military to act for Gaza as it would be helpful for the cause of Kashmir too. He suggested collective and uniformed action by the Muslim world against Israel.
He said that medics in Karachi under the banner of the JI Karachi would take out a march on May 31 for Gaza and another big march will be taken out on June 1 in Hyderabad. He urged the nation to continue the boycott of Israeli products.
Talking about the local issues, he said that the tax regime should be revised in order to exempt from taxation the economic class that earns Rs120 thousands per month or less.
He also stressed the need to reduce pressure from the people. He added that the small scale farmers should also be exempted from the tax, whereas feudal lords should pay all their taxes and liabilities. He said that electricity prices and petrol levy should also be reduced significantly.
He added that the ruling class hides itself behind the International Monetary Fund (IMF) when it comes to inflation but totally ignores the same IMF when it comes to curtailing its perks and privileges.
Talking about the local issues of Karachi, he said that the city was subjected to injustice on the basis of a fake census that curtailed the more than 35 million population of the city into half. He said that all the citizens in Karachi were complaining about the power and water crises.
He said that the K-Electric had reduced it’s production of electricity and increased the cost of production as well as the duration of load shedding. The KE produces the most expensive electricity in the country, he said, adding that the KE openly violates the NEPRA order that states against electricity suspension to a customer that pays bills in a timely manner.
He further said that despite all its misdeeds, the KE demanded write-off against what it called Rs76 billion unrecovered bills, and if any such bill is approved, the JI will cordon off the chief minister and the governor houses in protest.
Talking about the water crises, he said that a tanker mafia was enjoying monopoly in the city as it’s beneficiaries range from the chief minister house to Bilawal House. He added that the city was kept deprived of water even for 20 days when a supply line leaked. On the occasion, he lambasted the Pakistan People Party over irking Karachi and Karachiites.
He held the PPP directly responsible for all the local government issues in Karachi. He also highlighted the protest march to the Sindh Assembly building by the local government representatives. The PPP can’t acquire popularity by holding pictures of the field marshal, he added.
Talking about the Waziristan crises, the JI leader also supported the demands by the protesters and said that action should be taken against terrorists in the region but any mistake, if committed, should be acknowledged and redressal should be made. He said that the demands by the protesters were legitimate and the government should not provide any room to the enemy for propaganda and division.
He also hailed the Pakistani military for it’s calculated and effective response against Indian designs.
He highlighted the tragedy in Balochistan and recalled the people of Balochistan had responded positively to the JI appeal for Palestine. The people in Balochistan always supported the army against India, he said.
JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan and others, including Muslim Perez, Ishaq Khan, Raja Arif Sultan, Saifuddin Advocate, Zahid Askari flanked the JI supreme leader at the press conference.
