The 4th International Digital Security Forum (IDSF) 2025 will make Vienna the center of global discourse on digital security, technological sovereignty and international cyber resilience from June 4 to 6.
As a multi-stakeholder platform with a selected audience and under the motto “Balancing Sovereignty and Solidarity in the Digital Age”, #IDSF25 brings together international and national stakeholders from industry, government, research and civil society with key European stakeholders from the political and policy-making arena, to promote secure digitalisation for the benefit of a networked society.
The conference will take place in the cultural hotspot Museums Quartier Vienna in Austria.
It is organized by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology with the support of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs, further major Austrian ministries and in partnership with the Austrian Security and Defence Industries Group of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the Competence Center Secure Austria (KSÖ) and the Austrian Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development (AED) as well as in cooperation with international partner organizations.
Following the great success of IDSF in 2023, with over 500 participants and more than 100 speakers from 35 countries, the organizers are planning a high-profile program for 2025 that addresses the key balance between technological innovation, digital sovereignty and international cooperation in terms of solidarity.
Digital transformation challenges states to maintain their open strategic autonomy and sovereignty while fostering global solidarity in leveraging the benefits and addressing risks and cyber threats.
Digital sovereignty emphasizes control over national data and infrastructure, while digital solidarity relies on international cooperation to develop common security standards and share knowledge.
#IDSF25 examines this tension between independence and international cooperation from different technological, political, economic and societal perspectives.
The conference programme will address and highlight pressing issues in the digital realm, such as new security risks at the intersection of AI, quantum and biotechnology, the role of tech diplomacy in an increasingly digitalized world and the transformation of global cyber security strategies, particularly in geopolitically sensitive regions such as the Indo-Pacific.
Further focal points will cover the protection of critical infrastructure, trustworthy data spaces and human-centered digital governance, data sovereignty for peace and security as well as the impact of disinformation and digital manipulation on democracies.
Furthermore, IDSF programme partner Vienna Centre for Societal Security (VICESSE) will host again the social science paralleltrack “Sovereigntyy and Solidarity in the Digital Age – a critical view” which will take place on June 5 and aims at bringing together a variety of critical actors – from the social sciences, legal sciences, activists and technology developers – to think about the current state of affairs in the field of digitally (dis-)empowered societies.
We invite you to be part of this pivotal global exchange on digital security and resilience.
Join distinguished leaders, experts, and innovators in Vienna to contribute to shaping a secure, inclusive, and cooperative digital future.
