The Echo of Palestine International Conference, organized under the auspices of Jamaat-e-Islami in Islamabad, has emphasized the need to end the genocide in Gaza. The conference called for holding Israel accountable and urged governments to stop supporting Israel’s occupation and violations of international law.

At the conclusion of the conference held in Islamabad, a 14-point joint communique was approved. The conference demanded immediate measures to stop the ongoing violence by Israel in Palestine, called for a ceasefire, and stressed the need to ensure the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza. It also emphasized the necessity of holding Israel accountable.

According to joint communiqué, “We, the delegates of the Echo of Palestine International Conference, gathered in solidarity and in recognition of the urgent need for justice and liberation for the people of Palestine, reaffirm our collective commitment to support the Palestinian struggle for freedom and dignity. We further reaffirm that the occupation of Palestine and the genocide in Gaza are not isolated issues but part of a broader global challenge for justice, human rights, and respect for human dignity. We believe that Zionism is racist, supremacist ideology that has given birth to an apartheid system that has long history of crimes against humanity. We salute the heroic resistance of the people of Gaza who remain steadfast against the occupation even after sacrificing more than sixty thousand lives in wake of the most brutal attacks in recent history.”

It said, “The ongoing violence in Gaza comprising of airstrikes, bombardment, blockades, and relentless military assaults are acts of genocide beyond doubt. Gaza’s people face systematic destruction of their homes, livelihoods, and lives.  The international community’s inaction allows this violence to persist. Israel has committed genocide in violation of all international laws and moral imperatives. We call for an end to the genocidal attacks inflicted on Gaza and for immediate international intervention to stop the ongoing slaughter.”

It added, “Israel has intentionally targeted hospitals, schools, worship places, buildings carrying civilian populations, non-combatants including children, women and elderly, humanitarian workers, human rights activists, and media professionals in its offensive on Gaza. This is a blatant violation of universal human rights and international humanitarian law. The UN Security Council, International Criminal Court and human rights organizations must play their effective role and hold war criminals accountable for their notorious crimes.”

“Israel and its sponsors are deceiving the world by focusing attention on October 7 attacks and away from the occupation. The attack on October 7, 2023 was a reaction to the illegal occupation and ruthless dispossession of indigenous people, and the brutalities that Israel has been carrying out for last 77 years. Palestinians have been deprived of their land and freedom and forced to live under occupation for more than seven decades. Therefore, while immediate cessation of the current violence is imperative, finding a real lasting solution is required,” it said.

“This conference condemns the irresponsible statement issued by US President Donald Trump expressing intention to take over Gaza. We believe that Palestine belongs to Palestinians and nobody else has the right to determine the future of Gaza except Palestinians themselves. We reject any call or attempt to further displace, dispossess, or expel Palestinians from their land. Instead, the world must recognise the basic right of all Palestinians to return to their homeland as supported by international law. All attempt to further colonise and build settlements must be stopped immediately,” it added.

“This conference demands that government of Muslim countries must come forward and shoulder responsibilities to support the Palestinian cause. The Zionist project is a common threat to all countries of the region. Muslim countries must unite to confront the Zionist challenge together. They should rise above the nationalist, ethnic, and sectarian divides. Together, they have the political, economic, and military capacity to confront Israel and its sponsors. Muslim countries, together with their global allies around the world should collaborate to formulate a security mechanism to prevent the genocide in Gaza. In particular, the Muslim countries have a responsibility to protect the sanctity of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa from any Zionist infringements. Any negligence in the security of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa will agitate the Muslim masses,” it said.

“Rebuilding Gaza Reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gaza is an enormous task. All the Muslim countries should jointly establish a Rebuild Gaza Fund and resourceful Muslim countries should donate generously to establish institutions rehabilitate the habitat of Gaza,” it added.

“This conference expresses its full commitment to and solidarity with the freedom of all the land of historic Palestine. Decades of failed negotiations, coupled with the continued expansion of illegal settlements and further occupation of Palestinian territory has revealed  the true fascist intentions of the Zionist project. History has proved the fact that coexistence with Zionism is not a possibility. True justice and viable peace can only be achieved through the freedom of all the land of Palestine, with equal rights, justice, and liberty for all people — Muslims, Jews and Christians,” it said.

It furthered, “Benjamin Netanyahu is a declared criminal and murderer as declared by the International Criminal Court. ICC member states are now required to arrest Netanyahu, if he enter their territories. This is a litmus test of those Western countries who have championed the supremacy of law for centuries.”

It said, “Failure of International Law and Institutions: International legal frameworks and institutions, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, lack the enforcement capability of their decisions to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law, including war crimes, apartheid practices, and genocide. Veto power in the Security Council to some global powers not only violates the principle of equality, but is also an impediment in the way of justice. The selective application of international law, shaped by geopolitical interests, has allowed Israel to act with impunity. We call for a comprehensive review of international institutions to ensure they uphold justice and are capable of holding all violators of human rights accountable, regardless of their political or military power.”

“In light of the ongoing struggle for justice and liberation, we call for immediate establishment of Broader Coalition for Global Justice to be convent by the justice loving countries transcending all faith at geography. This coalition will confront the ongoing occupation of Palestine and will stand for the broader struggle for justice, equality and human dignity,” it stated.

It said, “To address the ongoing violations and atrocities, we call for the immediate implementation of targeted sanctions against Israel. These sanctions should include a comprehensive arms embargo, restrictions on trade agreements, and the cessation of military and economic support. Israel’s continued violations of international law and its role in the oppression of the Palestinian people must be met with concrete actions, not mere rhetoric.”

“The foundation of our collective struggle is the unwavering belief in the universality of human rights and dignity. Palestine’s struggle is not just a political issue—it is a matter of basic human rights. We call for global solidarity in protecting the rights of Palestinians, ensuring they live in a society where their rights are recognized, their freedom is upheld, and their dignity is respected. This is not just for Palestinians, but for all oppressed peoples around the world. The people of Gaza and West Bank, and the Palestinians living in the occupied territories of Islrael are entitled to fundamental human rights. All the blockades must be removed to allow them to live a human life. The supply of food, water, electricity, fuel and medical support also needs to be restored immediately. All UN bodies must take practical actions against the violation of human rights by Israel and ensure the protection of civilians without discrimination,” it said.

It said, “The media has often misrepresented the situation in Palestine, framing the ongoing genocide as a “conflict” between two equal parties, thereby erasing the reality of an occupying power and an oppressed population. We reject this distortion of truth. We call for a paradigm shift in the way Palestine is reported on, ensuring that Palestinian voices are prioritized, their suffering is acknowledged, and their resistance is recognized. Furthermore, we demand that media outlets be held accountable for misinformation, bias, and silence in the face of human rights violations.”

It said, “The youth of Palestine, and of the Global South, are leading the charge in resisting occupation and demanding justice. It is crucial that the next generation of activists, leaders, and change-makers are empowered to shape the future of the Palestinian cause and global resistance movements. We call for increased youth participation in political, diplomatic, and activist spaces, ensuring their voices are heard and their leadership is nurtured.”

We call upon individuals, organizations, and governments worldwide to take decisive action in support of Palestinian rights. The time for empty promises is over.
