Kashmir, Palestine are our red lines, says JI emir
Hafiz Naeem says JI will wait for election schedule; stresses independent foreign policy and firm stance on Kashmir, Palestine.
Addressing the final day of the “Badal Do Nizam” public gathering organised by Jamaat-e-Islami at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on Sunday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that political parties in Pakistan are suffering from a crisis of discipline, but in his party, everyone must follow the system.
The JI chief said that actions taken to please US President Donald Trump are completely wrong. He said Pakistan has suffered greatly by choosing servitude to America. Pakistan’s foreign policy must be independent, and no country, including the US, has the right to exploit others. Even our disagreements should be expressed with dignity.
He said that millions have sacrificed their lives for Kashmir.
“Kashmir belongs to Pakistan, and Pakistan belongs to Kashmir. Kashmir and Palestine are our red lines. We cannot abandon the Kashmiris. A free Palestinian state is the only solution to the Palestine issue. Pakistan’s leaders must support Palestine and take the entire nation along,” he added.
Hafiz Naeem said that Jamaat-e-Islami will not announce any candidate until the national election schedule is issued. He said they work to unite the nation, not divide provinces against each other.
He added that those sitting in Parliament do not speak about women’s rights. If given the opportunity, every woman will be granted her rightful share in inheritance. Under the current contractor system, women are deprived of their rights, and the rulers have no concern for public issues.
The JI chief said that the current system gives respect only to landlords and capitalists. Local body elections have not been held in Punjab since 2015. Those calling for non-party elections want horse-trading in every union council.
