In a very strong show of solidarity with Gaza, particularly in the backdrop of Israeli aggression against the freedom flotilla, Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi echoed with slogans of solidarity with Palestinians, as tens of thousands of Karachiites, including women and children, marched on Sunday under the aegis of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Karachi.
The marchers, belonging to all walks of life, chanted slogans against the Israeli Zionist regime and its supporters over the genocide in Gaza. They were carrying placards and banners. Dozens of differently abled citizens also participated in the event and formed a chain to express solidarity with Palestinians.
In his keynote address, JI Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman made it clear to Islamabad that any paradigm shift in Pakistan’s policy on Palestine, set by none other than Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, will not be tolerated at any cost. He reminded the rulers that even a hundred years ago, the All India Muslim League used to protest against Israel. On March 23, 1940, two resolutions were passed by the Muslim League — one is called Pakistan Resolution and the second one was for Palestine.
There is only one state and that is Palestine, whereas there is only one leadership in Gaza and that is Hamas, he said while demanding the government to recognize and Hamas and support them as they represent the people of Gaza. Don’t dare to accept Israel or join Ibrahim accord, he warned strongly.
He said that the US was directly responsible for genocide and ethnic cleansing and has no right to deliver lectures on humanity. He further said that Israel had totally failed militarily in Gaza as it couldn’t get its soldiers freed by Hamas and was in fact engaging Hamas in one way or another to secure their release.
Hamas is a resistance movement that represent the people of Gaza. However, the ruling class is not even willing to mention the name of Hamas because they are afraid of any movement that comes from the people, he said, adding that the ruling elite dislikes any movement that opposes the US and Israel.
He further said that Hamas was a legal movement under the UN Charter. If Hamas has taken up arms, it has done so according to the UN Charter, he added.
On the occasion, he stressed the need of another United Nations as the present one became a total failure and agent of the US and Israel. It never solved the issues of Muslims. He was of the view that the massacre in Palestine happened not because of Hamas, but because of the cowardly Muslim rulers.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that we want to tell the rulers and opposition parties of Pakistan to abandon hypocrisy and double standards. The people of Gaza and Hamas must be accepted, and Hamas offices must be opened in Pakistan, he said.
He also demanded PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to show his support for Hamas and condemn Israel and America. “From Karachi’s Keamari to the mountains of Chitral, the public is united in one voice: ‘We will not accept slavery to America’,” he said.
“Greta Thungberg was tortured and forced to kiss Israeli flag, this is the real face of Zionist state,” he highlighted.
Talking about the local issues, he said that both dictatorship and fake democracies had been failed and now the JI would be focusing on changing the system through political struggle. On November 21, 22, and 23, people from all over the country will come to Minar-e-Pakistan. The message of this public gathering is: “Change the system”, he added.
In his concluding remarks, he said that October 7 is a symbol of struggle and resistance. On October 7, people around the world will come out of their homes to express solidarity with the resistance forces and oppressed people of Gaza. On October 7 at 11 a.m., the entire Pakistan will come out on roads in support of Palestinians and asked the nation to join the global solidarity demonstration.
JI Pakistan deputy chief Dr Osama Razi in his address said that solidarity marches have shown that People across Pakistan support Gaza and Palestine but what about the government and ruling elite. He demanded Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to clear his position and withdraw his tweet. Otherwise, he said, the fake premier will be dealt like any other traitor.
He also shed light on the cracks in the US-Israel coalition and expressed his disappointment over form 47 government as he highlighted Pakistan’s missing role in diplomatic isolation of Israel. Pakistan and Egypt both are obligatory to play significant roles for Gaza but unfortunately both are seemed on the back foot.
Talking about the local political scenario, he said that unfortunately, the PPP and the PML-N show zero activism for Gaza and Hamas. He condemned the rulers as local agents of international establishment and Imperialism.
JI Karachi Emir Monem Zafar Khan, JI leader Saifuddin Advocate, MPA Muhammad Farooq, Alkhidmat CEO Naveed Ali Baig, MWM’s Ameen Shahedi and Baqir Zaidi, IJT’s Abish Siddiqui among others addressed the event.
