The federal government has officially contacted the management of X (formerly Twitter) regarding the social media account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, while an investigation into the matter is already in progress.
Minister of State for Interior, Barrister Aqeel Malik, revealed during a private TV program “Doosra Rukh” that legal procedures are being followed concerning Imran Khan’s X account. He stated, “We are investigating where the account is being operated from and who is managing it. The results will be made public soon after the investigation concludes.”
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has already launched an inquiry into Imran Khan’s X account. The agency has provided the PTI founder with a 21-point questionnaire, asking how his account remains active despite his imprisonment, and whether he acknowledges the posts made from his personal account as his own.
According to sources, the investigation team has met Imran Khan twice at Adiala Jail, but he has not cooperated. During the second meeting, his attitude was reportedly confrontational, after which the questionnaire was handed over to him in writing.
It is worth noting that on May 14, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court granted permission for polygraphic and photographic tests of Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 cases. The police argued that scientific testing was necessary to verify the facts of the incidents. However, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, strongly opposed the request, calling it malicious and untimely, as it came two years after the events.
The investigation team visited the jail four times to conduct the tests, but Imran Khan repeatedly refused to undergo the polygraphic examination.
