Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, visited Bannu and attended a high-level meeting focused on counter-terrorism.
According to “Radio Pakistan”, they also participated in the funeral prayers of the 12 brave martyrs of the South Waziristan operation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan’s response to terrorism will continue with full force and made it clear that no ambiguity or compromise will be tolerated.
He said terrorist leaders and facilitators responsible for attacks in Pakistan are operating from Afghan soil with the backing of India.
The Prime Minister stated that the Afghan Interim Government has been clearly told to choose between supporting the terrorists or stand with Pakistan.
He highlighted the involvement of infiltrated Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents and stressed the urgent need for the repatriation of illegal Afghan residents currently living in Pakistan.
He said the Pakistani nation rejects politicization and misleading narratives on the issue of terrorism.
PM Shehbaz Sharif warned that anyone facilitating or advocating for the terrorists or acting as proxies for India is essentially their agent and will be dealt with accordingly.
He praised the unity and resilience of the Pakistani people, especially the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for standing like Banyan-um-Marsoos with the state and armed forces against the Indian proxies.
To ensure a more effective response to terrorism, he affirmed that the government will immediately implement all necessary administrative and legal measures.
During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal also visited the injured at Bannu CMH, and the Corps Commander of Peshawar provided a detailed briefing on the region’s security situation.
Earlier, upon arrival at Bannu Cantonment, the Chief of Army Staff formally welcomed the Prime Minister.
