US Chargé d’Affaires in Pakistan, Natalie Baker, has said that Pakistan offers vast opportunities for American companies to expand trade and investment, adding that US businesses can play a vital role in Pakistan’s stability and development. She projected that by 2050, Pakistan will be among the world’s top 10 to 15 largest economies.

Speaking at a webinar organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), Baker praised the Pakistani government’s economic reforms and its efforts to create an investor-friendly environment. She underlined that US companies could contribute significantly to Pakistan’s growth and prosperity. The webinar was also attended by business leaders and representatives of financial institutions from both Pakistan and the United States.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic importance, Baker noted that the country is the fifth most populous nation with 250 million people, 64% of whom are under 30 years of age—making it one of the world’s largest and youngest consumer markets.

She pointed out that Pakistan’s current GDP stands at about $412 billion, ranking 38th globally, but according to Goldman Sachs, this could rise to $3.3 trillion by 2050, placing Pakistan among the world’s top 10–15 economies.

Baker also identified key sectors for US investors, including critical minerals, IT and communications, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure development. She encouraged American companies to connect with the US Mission’s Foreign Commercial Service team in Pakistan to explore partnership opportunities with local institutions.

She stressed that now is the time to forge business partnerships that will bring prosperity to both nations while further deepening bilateral relations.
