The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the iconic leader Syed Ali Gilani’s stance on the Kashmir dispute was a symbol of the Kashmiris’ righteous demand for plebiscite and freedom.

According to media reports, Syed Ali Gilani embraced martyrdom in the custody of Indian police on September 01, 2021, at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, where he had been kept under continued house arrest for over a decade.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, urged the people to visit the graveyard of Kashmir’s iconic liberation leader Syed Ali Gilani at Hyderpora in Srinagar on Monday, September 01, to pay tribute to his pious sacrifice and unwavering stand for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The statement stressed that it was high time for the people of Kashmir to remember the heroes who lived and died for the freedom of their motherland.

It is worth mentioning here that Indian forces had shamelessly snatched away the body of Syed Ali Gilani and buried him at Hyderpora graveyard in the dark of night against his will. According to his family, Syed Ali Gilani had wished to be buried at the Martyrs Graveyard at Eidgah in Srinagar. The APHC said that the people of Kashmir would also renew their pledge that the mission of the veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani and other martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement would be accomplished at any cost.

The APHC further urged the Kashmiris living in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, and abroad to remember Syed Ali Gilani on his martyrdom anniversary and draw the attention of the international community to the plight of the enslaved and besieged Kashmiri people.
