CDA integrates metro and electric bus routes into Google Maps for commuters. New app and digital maps aim to simplify travel planning for Islamabad residents
Islamabad’s commuters can now plan their journeys with greater ease as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has integrated metro and electric bus routes into Google Maps and launched a dedicated mobile app to provide real-time transport information.
Under the initiative led by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, all active routes, stops, and schedules for metro and feeder electric buses are now accessible through [Google Maps](https://www.cda.gov.pk/public/cdaTransitMap). The move aims to give citizens reliable travel details from home, allowing them to choose routes, check estimated travel times, and avoid unnecessary delays.
CDA has also released a new mobile application, “CDA Mobile,” available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app offers a journey planner to calculate estimated travel times, notifications about route changes, and updates on new services. For visitors, it also provides guidance on nearby attractions and tourism sites in Islamabad.
Officials confirmed that the next phase of development includes real-time bus tracking on Google Maps and the introduction of digital fare payments. Commuters will soon be able to pay fares through debit and credit cards, mobile wallets such as Easypaisa and JazzCash, and QR code systems directly via the CDA Mobile app.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the goal is not only to improve convenience but also to reduce pollution by encouraging the use of air-conditioned electric buses instead of fuel-powered vehicles. He directed the team to ensure wide publicity so that residents can fully benefit from the upgraded facilities.
In addition to Google Maps, complete details of transit schedules and routes remain available on the [CDA’s official transit map portal](https://www.cda.gov.pk/public/cdaTransitMap). Officials said the system would continue to expand with new routes based on ridership demand and public feedback.
