According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, counterterrorism operations in Pakistan are being conducted exclusively by law enforcement agencies and the armed forces.

The spokesperson clarified that while intelligence cooperation with friendly countries continues, all ground operations are conducted solely by Pakistan, with no foreign element involved in counterterrorism actions.

The spokesperson added that the threat of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan remains a key point on Pakistan’s agenda. Pakistan desires fraternal and friendly relations with Afghanistan, and the elimination of terrorism from Afghan soil will enhance connectivity, integration, and prosperity in the region.

According to the spokesperson, the United Nations’ counterterrorism report expressed concern over global threats originating from Afghan territory.

On Pakistan-U.S. relations, the spokesperson said that ties between the two countries span decades and are multidimensional. The Pakistani community, students, doctors, and trade are vital aspects of Pakistan-U.S. relations. Efforts to further strengthen these ties will continue. The United States has played an important role in ceasefire efforts and de-escalation in the region.

The Foreign Office spokesperson also said that India’s arms buildup is alarming for the region, as the international community’s unchecked provision of weapons to India is creating instability in the region.

Shafqat Ali Khan also expressed regret that the Indian cricket team is not allowed to tour Pakistan and that Pakistan’s cricket team is being prevented from playing in India. He emphasized that Pakistan has always maintained the stance that sports and politics should not be mixed.
