Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, while reacting to the findings of the audit report that exposed over-billing of billions of rupees by electricity distribution companies, stated that it is extremely shameful to burden the public with Rs 244 billion through over-billing just to hide line losses and inefficiency. The government must return this looted money to the people.
In a statement on the social media platform X, he said that over-billing is the worst form of corruption and mismanagement. The consequences of the incompetence of the rulers and institutions are being borne by the public.
It should be noted that the Auditor General’s report revealed that IESCO, LESCO, MEPCO, SEPCO, HESCO, PESCO, K-Electric, and TESCO have been involved in over-billing worth Rs 244 billion. While the companies claim to have refunded the money to the public, no documentary evidence was provided during the audit to support this claim.
