Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman at the party’s headquarters in Mansoorah, where the two leaders discussed the rising tensions between Pakistan and India, as well as the ongoing issues of Kashmir and Palestine. JI Vice Emir Liaqat Baloch was also present during the meeting.
The Minister briefed Rehman on the latest decisions taken by the National Security Council (NSC) and conveyed the government’s stance on key developments related to national security.
During the discussion, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman emphasized the need for a firm and comprehensive response to India’s illogical and aggressive actions, particularly the unilateral and illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. He stated that the entire nation stands united on this issue and urged the government to make responsible and strategically sound decisions that promote national unity.
“Jamaat-e-Islami has always adopted a principled and courageous stance on national issues, keeping the country’s interests at the forefront,” the JI chief said. “Our commitment to the causes of Kashmir and Palestine is well known.”
Criticizing the government for placing obstacles in the way of the recent Gaza Million March in Islamabad, Rehman said such actions were inappropriate and tantamount to hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis and the wider Muslim Ummah. He reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s support for the government’s principled position on India in light of recent hostilities and condemned the Indian government for the brutal killing of innocent Kashmiris. “The Indian leadership must come to its senses,” he added.
Interior Minister Naqvi responded by asserting that India is deliberately attempting to destabilize regional peace through conspiracies and provocation. He noted that the political leadership and the Pakistani nation are united against any form of Indian aggression, and that the armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country.
Praising Jamaat-e-Islami’s role, Naqvi said the party’s Gaza Million March in Islamabad was commendable and worthy of appreciation. He added that while the government is sometimes forced to take strict measures in response to violent protests led by some political parties, peaceful and well-organized demonstrations, such as those held by Jamaat-e-Islami, do not warrant such restrictions.
