Verbal condemnation is not enough. What use are Muslim armies if they do not engage in Jihad?

A National Palestine Conference held in Islamabad has declared that Jihad is now obligatory on all Muslims to save the oppressed Palestinians. The conference, titled “Palestine and the Responsibility of the Muslim Ummah”, approved a declaration stating that the coming Friday will be observed as “Day of the Oppressed and Besieged Palestinians.”

The declaration emphasized that there is no precedent in recent history for the level of brutality seen in Gaza. Over 55,000 Palestinians have been martyred and 200,000 injured due to Zionist oppression. The statement added that Gaza’s civil infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and welfare institutions, has been destroyed. This is not just a war on Gaza, but an open genocide of Palestinians.

The declaration further noted that the UN Security Council has become ineffective, and that the United States continues to unconditionally veto resolutions related to Gaza. It criticized global institutions, including the International Court of Justice, for being paralyzed and helpless. According to the principle of “Al-Aqrab fa Al-Aqrab” (those closest have the greater obligation), Jihad is now obligatory on all Muslims.

Mufti Taqi Usmani, the Grand Mufti of Pakistan, addressing the conference, demanded a complete boycott of Israel and its supporters, stating that Jihad has become mandatory for all Islamic governments. He questioned the purpose of Muslim armies and weapons if they cannot save Muslims from oppression. He said that Israel does not respect international laws, and that the United Nations has become a puppet in the hands of Israel and the U.S.

Mufti Usmani added that despite agreements, bombardment of Gaza continues, and the U.S. Secretary of State openly supports Israel, stating that no matter how many Muslims Israel kills, the U.S. will continue to support it. He commended the steadfastness of Hamas fighters and leaders, saying they have not retreated from their stance even slightly. He criticized the Muslim world for limiting itself to resolutions and conferences instead of declaring Jihad.

He further stated, “We have openly issued fatwas to all Islamic governments declaring that Jihad is now mandatory. Verbal condemnation is not enough. What use are Muslim armies if they do not engage in Jihad?” He questioned whether witnessing the slaughter of more than 55,000 Muslims does not make Jihad obligatory. He emphasized that practical, financial, and moral support to Palestinians is a duty upon the Muslim Ummah.

Mufti Usmani encouraged Muslims, saying there are many ways to fulfill the duty of Jihad, and that today’s gathering is sending a message to Muslim rulers to fulfill their responsibilities. He urged a complete boycott of Israel and its supporters, while clarifying that no harm should be caused to individuals or their property.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan has no relations with Israel, nor will it have any. He recalled that even before the formation of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam had declared Israel an illegitimate child, and Pakistan still stands firm on its stance of not recognizing Israel.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, in his address to the National Palestine Conference in Islamabad, stressed the importance of expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine, and sending a clear message to the world that Muslims, whether from Pakistan or elsewhere, stand with their Palestinian brothers.

He praised Mufti Taqi Usmani and Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman for issuing fatwas that explicitly declare support for the Palestinians on the battlefield. He said that this fatwa is not just for Pakistani Muslims, but for the entire Muslim world.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman criticized the current Pakistani government, saying it is like a torn shirt—with the PDM in power while the President is acting like the opposition. He questioned the leadership and emphasized that Pakistan, created in the name of the Muslim Ummah, has a responsibility to fight for all Muslims around the world. Failing to support Palestine, he said, would mean betraying the very purpose of Pakistan’s creation.

He described Israel as a state terrorist, whose history is filled with violence and the murder of prophets. He said that their true face has been exposed by Allah, and whenever they try to ignite the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it.

He also debunked the narrative that Palestinians gave away their land, pointing to historical facts: In 1917, when the proposal for the Israeli state was made, only 2% of the population in Palestine was Jewish, while 98% were Muslims. Even in 1947, when Israel’s creation was being finalized, 94% of the land still belonged to Palestinians.
