Following successful negotiations, a staff-level agreement has been reached between Pakistan and the IMF for the first review.
According to the IMF’s official statement, after the formal approval of the agreement, Pakistan will receive a payment of approximately $2 billion. Pakistan has met all the conditions related to the agreement, and Pakistani authorities are committed to promoting social protection.
The IMF further stated that inflation in Pakistan is at its lowest level since 2015. Despite challenges over the past 18 months, Pakistan has made progress in restoring macroeconomic stability.
The IMF also noted that Pakistan’s economic situation has improved, and economic activities are expected to gradually increase. However, Pakistan still faces risks related to environmental challenges.
