Opposition announces boycotting Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting Achakzai, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Allama Nasir Abbas and Akhtar Mengal will not attend the meeting.

Parties of opposition alliance including Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) have announced to boycott Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting scheduled to be held today (Tuesday).

Mahmood Khan Achakzai (PkMAP), Sahibzada Hamid Raza (SIC), Allama Nasir Abbas (MWM) and Sardar Akhtar Mengal (BNP-M) will not attend Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting.

On the other hand, the political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has set condition of meeting with party founder for participation in the Parliamentary National Security Committee session.

In a statement, the PTI political committee stated that the party leadership should be allowed to meet incarcerated party founder. The PTI political committee has also allowed Chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur to participate in the National Security Committee meeting.

Earlier, opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan had written a letter to NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq, demanding to play his role in arranging a meeting of the party leadership with the PTI founder.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to participate

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to participate in the Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting.

Sources said that PTI chairman Barrister Gohar and several senior leaders were in favour of attending the session while Junaid Akbar called for consultation with the PTI founder.

In this regard, the PTI has submitted a list of 14 names to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. The list included Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Amir Dogar, Sanaullah Masti Khel, Ali Muhammad Khan, Senator Ali Zafar, Senator Humayun Muhammad and Senator Aon Abbas Buppi.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an in-camera session of the committee tomorrow, during which the military leadership would brief on the current national security development.

Parliamentary Committee on National Security to meet on Tuesday

Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has has convened the Parliamentary Committee on National Security meeting on Tuesday on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to sources, the Parliamentary Committee on National Security meeting will be in-camera during which briefing will be given on the security situation. In the meeting, the military leadership will brief the parliamentary committee about the current security situation in the country.

Sources said that the meeting will be held at 1:30pm in the National Assembly hall. The parliamentary leaders of all political parties present in parliament and their nominated representatives will participate in the Parliamentary Committee on National Security meeting.

Federal cabinet members will also attend this meeting, and a briefing will be given on the current national security situation.
