The minimum Fitrana for this year will be 220 rupees per person, as the Islamic Ideology Council has issued the prescribed rates for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya for fasting. The minimum Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya per person this year is set at 220 rupees based on wheat, 450 rupees based on barley, 1,650 rupees based on dates, 2,500 rupees based on raisins, and 5,000 rupees per person based on dried grapes (Munakka).
Wealthy individuals should pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya according to their financial capability. Chairman of the Islamic Ideology Council, Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, emphasized that giving Sadaqat-ul-Fitr is obligatory for every Muslim, whether enslaved or free, male or female, young or old. Those who have been blessed with wealth by Allah should not limit themselves to wheat-based calculations but rather contribute according to their financial capacity so that the maximum number of underprivileged people can have their needs met.
Additionally, those residing in provinces other than Punjab should pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya according to the prices of relevant grains in their areas. The prescribed weight for wheat is half a Sa’ (approximately 2 kg as a precaution), while for barley, dates, and dried grapes (Munakka), it is one Sa’ (approximately 4 kg as a precaution).
Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi further elaborated that the Fidya for 30 missed fasts amounts to:
- 6,600 rupees based on wheat
- 13,500 rupees based on barley
- 49,500 rupees based on dates
- 75,000 rupees based on raisins
- 150,000 rupees based on dried grapes (Munakka)
For those who deliberately break a fast, the Kaffara (expiation) is to fast continuously for 60 days or provide two meals to 60 needy individuals.
Those using government-subsidized flour may pay 160 rupees for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr and Fidya.
