Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has stated that Kashmir will not be liberated through the trade of potatoes, onions, and tomatoes. He emphasized that Azad Kashmir was freed by the power of the sword, and Indian-occupied Kashmir will also be liberated in the same manner. He said resistance is the path to success—where there is resistance, there is honor. He further asserted that the United Nations grants Kashmiris the right to armed struggle.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these remarks while addressing the National Kashmir Conference organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in Islamabad on Monday. The conference was also addressed by former Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaqat Baloch, former Federal Minister Mushahid Hussain Syed, former Presidents of Azad Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Sardar Masood Khan, former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, former Emir Abdul Rashid Turabi, former Ambassador Abdul Basit Khan, Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Azad Kashmir Chapter Ghulam Mohammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Shamim Shal, Faiz Naqshbandi, and Maulana Imtiaz Siddiqui. On this occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Emir Mian Muhammad Aslam, Asif Luqman Qazi, Abdullah Gul, and other leaders were also present.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that there is unity on the Kashmir issue. He emphasized that today’s National Kashmir Conference brings together Kashmiri and Pakistani leadership. In Indian-occupied Kashmir, Kashmiris are facing oppression, and even their voices are being silenced, he said and added they have made immense sacrifices, with over 100,000 martyrs and thousands imprisoned while the media is being strictly controlled.
He further highlighted that the worst human rights violations are taking place in India. Not only are Kashmiris suffering under Indian oppression, but Dalits, Sikhs, and other minorities in India are also facing brutal treatment, he added.
He said the mindset of Western states is against Muslims; they do not allow the Kashmir issue to be resolved; however, if the issue concerns non-Muslims, they resolve it immediately. “The international community is not willing to stop India. Supporting the diplomatic front and the struggle for Kashmir is Pakistan’s responsibility. The armed struggle of the people of occupied Kashmir is in accordance with UN resolutions,” he said.
He said, “The people of occupied Kashmir are not even allowed to protest against India. Armed resistance is their right. Azad Kashmir was also liberated by the power of the sword, and the rest of Kashmir will be freed in the same way. The political and military struggle must be intensified—simply offering moral and political support to Kashmiris is not enough. The United Nations has already granted them the right to fight. The UN recognizes their right to armed resistance. Was Azad Kashmir gained without guns? No. Occupied Kashmir, too, will only be liberated by force.”
Former Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed stated that Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has infused new energy into the party. He emphasized that the two-issue policy was given by Quaid-e-Azam—one on Kashmir and the other on Palestine, adding this policy has remained unchanged despite efforts to alter it.
He paid tribute to Burhan Wani Shaheed, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and other martyrs. He highlighted how Hamas has courageously resisted Israel’s terrorism in Palestine, saying that it was remarkable to witness. He said although there were announcements to eliminate Hamas, today, negotiations are taking place, leading to prisoner release, adding Hamas had no base camp; they fought alone and emerged successful. He noted that Kashmir has an advantage that Pakistan serves as its base camp. For the first time in history, Western populations have opposed Israel.
Former Prime Minister and President of Azad Kashmir, as well as Pakistan People’s Party leader Sardar Yaqoob Khan, stated that they have complete trust in Allah and must follow the path taken by their ancestors. He emphasized that Kashmiris are a peaceful people.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Farooq Rehmani said that today, Modi claims to have resolved the Kashmir issue and challenges others to do whatever they can. However, as long as the prisoners in occupied Kashmir remain behind bars, our conferences will be meaningless, he remarked.
Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan, stated that the late Qazi Hussain Ahmed initiated the observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and sent a message to the international community. He emphasized the need for a unified national Kashmir policy.
The Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of occupied Kashmir to Jamaat-e-Islami for organizing programs in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and for raising awareness among the public.
He emphasized that the National Kashmir Conference should formulate a unified national Kashmir policy, adding Jammu and Kashmir is not merely a territorial dispute; it is a matter of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. India had once recognized this right but has now reneged on its commitment, instead claiming Kashmir as an integral part of its territory, he noted.
He further stated that human rights violations in occupied Kashmir are taking place because Kashmiris are demanding their right to self-determination. As a result, our people are being martyred and imprisoned, he added.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mehmood Ahmad Saghar stated that they were compelled to initiate an armed struggle in occupied Kashmir. He pointed out that the government of Azad Kashmir has never allocated funds for this movement.
He emphasized the need for proper funding to support the freedom struggle and called for practical steps to be taken for Kashmir. He urged for calling an international conference on Kashmir, highlighting that while Kashmir is often referred to as the jugular vein, no global conference is being convened on the issue.
