The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has scheduled the hearing of a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar regarding the alleged deaths and missing workers during the protest at D-Chowk for December 23. The petition names the Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Defence Minister, and the IG of Islamabad as respondents. The petition also includes the DIG Operations, SSP Security, and unidentified individuals as parties.
In the petition, Barrister Gohar has provided a list of 12 workers allegedly killed and a list of 38 workers who were reportedly injured by gunshots. The PTI Chairman has also included the names of 139 missing workers.
It is important to note that on December 8, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and senior PTI leader, Omar Ayub, claimed that during the recent party protest in Islamabad, unarmed workers were shot at, resulting in the deaths of 12 workers, while 200 others went missing. In a press conference in Peshawar with other senior party leaders Asad Qaiser, Senator Shibli Faraz, and General Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram, Omar Ayub stated that he had met with Imran Khan on December 5. He said that as soon as he was released from Adiala Jail, he was arrested again, but the next day, the court ordered his release and also imposed a contempt of court charge on him. He added that during their peaceful protest on November 24, unarmed workers were shot at, killing 12 workers and leaving over 200 still missing.
