The 2% cess tax imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is unfair

ISLAMABAD  (  Web News  )

Mr. AtifIkram Sheikh President Federation Of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) said that the KP Business Community rejects the imposition of 2% Cess on import on all imports into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is unjustified and unacceptable to the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This will result in price hikes of essential commodities and hyperinflation.

Atif Ikram further said that instead of giving relief to the poor people of the province, problems are being created for the newly elected provincial government under a deliberate conspiracy by the bureaucracy, which cannot be ignored under any circumstances while our country is already running in economic crises.

He further said that the business community of the province and the importers and exporters are already in under the burden of heavy taxes while the Cess levy of 2% on import and export trade by the care-taker provincial government will further increase the problems and complications which is to be condemned.

It is surprising that instead of flourishing business activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and providing incentives, the KP Government further burdened the already pressed businessmen. FPCCI opposes the 2% cess in KP province and will raise its voice for its withdrawal on all concerned platforms, he said.

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a militancy-affected province and business in this province is already under great stress due to poor law and order situation. “In the prevailing circumstances, imposition of 2% cess is  unjust with the businessmen of the province.”

AtifIkram demanded the newly elected provincial government and the expected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur to immediately withdraw the decision of cess tax on import and export and provide relief to the poor people and the business community.

AtifIkram Sheikh President FPCCI further said that he will soon meet the newly elected provincial government and the expected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur and will try to resolve this problem.
