A country-wide massive crackdown by the Caretaker Government to combat the alarming surge in power theft continues across the country.
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) drive against power pilferage in Rawalpindi-Attock-Jhelum and Chakwal circles and imposed fine of Rs 7.567 million in various areas.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has taken strict action against eight officers; five Executive Engineers two Sub-Divisional Officers and a Line Superintendent for conniving in electricity theft and giving new power connection to a dead defaulter.
The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has also nabbed 87 people on the charge of power pilferage in different parts of its region during past 24 hours.
The Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) has so far removed over 500 direct hooks during ongoing operation spokesman PESCO said that FIRs have been registered against those stealing electricity.
The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has also launched a crackdown against power theft and raids were conducted in several areas of region and disconnected 4,891 illegal connections.
Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing crackdown against electricity theft in District Bahawalpur, along with MEPCO teams has conducted raids at various places in Khairpur Tamewali and caught the accused involved in electricity theft.
According to spokesman of MEPCO, FIRs have been registered against the culprits in the respective police stations.
A district enforcement committee is active in the field to stop the electricity theft and stern action is being taken against the thieves.
Similarly, a large-scale crackdown against smuggling continues across the country.
A joint operation by FC Balochistan, Anti-Narcotics Force, Levies are other Law Enforcement Agencies have achieved a remarkable success in Qila Abdullah district foiling bids to smuggle narcotics.
During the operation, drug production, drug storage facilities and valuable machines were destroyed.
A total of 11 people were arrested in the crackdown. Over 500 illegal Afghans were also found involved in drugs smuggling.
The local have people welcomed this action against drug dealers in Qila Abdullah and Gulistan and thanked the security agencies.
