The Chairman Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad stressed on students participating in games to learn the lessons of life, such as cooperation, responsibility, self-confidence, accountability, and self-discipline.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of the HEC inter Universities Mini Sports Gala 2023 held on Friday at the cricket ground of Sargodha University.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Chairman HEC Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad and Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Professor Dr. Qaisar Abbas, while attended by thousands of students.
Addressing the Students, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad expressed “We should make the right strategies and policies in order to meaningfully engage the youth in the community, provide quality education, and sports activities, and secure future livelihoods, so we could protect the biggest crew of the country.” and ‘’HEC will continue to take all possible steps and support for the promotion of sports and extra-curricular activities along with education and we will continue to organize such competitions in the future. he stressed.
He emphasized the importance of sports in building character and promoting a healthy lifestyle. He congratulated the athletes and wished them the best of luck for the games.
Dr. Qaisar Abbas said that students and faculty members of UoS are playing a key role to excel in academics, research, and co-curricular activities through hard work and truthfulness. He also applauded the extraordinary performances of the young guys.
The opening ceremony was a colorful affair, with athletes, coaches, and spectators gathering to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship. The event began with a march past by the different 20 universities’ sports teams. The athletes were dressed in their respective team colors and marched in perfect unison, to the beats of their university band. The crowd cheered them on, and the atmosphere was electric.
A special cultural dance and musical performance by Sindh students to represent their Sindhi culture respectively mesmerized the audience at the inauguration ceremony and the national and international horsemen received praise from the participants of the event for performing a magnificent display of javelin.
The sports gala will feature a variety of events, including athletics, basketball, football, volleyball, and many others, making it a truly university-wide event.
