COMSTECH Organizes Webinar on Epigenetics

COMSTECH organized a webinar on “Epigenetics, The Immortal Kiss of our Grandparents” online on Tuesday, which was delivered by Prof. Dr. Rana Dajani, Professor of Biology and Biotechnology at Hashemite University, Jordan.
Dr. Dajani talked about the intricate relationship between trauma and resilience from a biological point of view. She discussed theory and practice of conducting research within the humanitarian context of refugees in Jordan. She outlined a journey of discovery from basic surveys to bio-markers and beyond.
Dr. Dajani said that we always talk about scientists from the west or in the past and celebrate them, which is good, but I think today we are in need of celebrating scientists who are living with us so that they can inspire us as a true role model and be inspired to think big.
Dr. Dajani urged every scientist to mention scientists in their presentation, who have inspired them and share their names so that world can know about them. She also talked about human displacement crisis and related physical and mental health crisis being faced by the displaced communities.
Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary said in his introductory remarks that we know Dr. Dajani as a scientist, activist, humanist and someone with great insight about real issues which humanity face today. Dr. Choudhary said her out of the box problem solving approach is impressive and optimistic.
Dr. Rana Dajani is Palestinian-Jordanian molecular biologist, professor of biology and biotechnology at Hashemite University. She is member of the United Nations Women Jordan Advisory Council and has been honored with number of prestigious awards.
