SCO celebrates International Women’s Day

special Communications Organization (SCO) celebrated the International Women’s Day with full zeal and fervor. Special events were organized at the SCO Headquarters as well as at Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) to mark the International Women’s Day.

SCO has a strong commitment to diversity and women empowerment, both within its own organization and within the communities in which it serves. As an organization, SCO believes that having a diverse workforce is the key to foster innovation and nurture an environment which is gender inclusive. The organization takes pride in being an equal opportunity employer, which empowers females on all levels of hierarchy. SCO has appointed several women in leadership positions in Marketing, Digital/ IT, Call Center and continually developing initiatives that support financial inclusion especially for women through S-Paisa.

SCO women empowerment initiatives are also aimed at achieving gender equality in the society to act, lead, develop, and succeed. Making talented women of the area as their brand ambassadors, including Samina Baig, mountaineer and Maryam Mujtaba, the first female pilot from Azad Kashmir, are excellent examples of this. SCO plays a vital role in creating opportunities for women and leading them to achieve their goals. To name a few, SCO has sponsored Samina Baig, Pakistan’s first Muslim female mountaineer for her upcoming K-2 expedition 2021. In addition, SCO has set a trend of honorary employing female Painting Competition winners to encourage their passion for art.

On the occasion of Women’s Day, SCO pledges to encourage and support women in advancing their careers and to help them reach their true potential.
