Online system is being introduced in Excise Department for eradication of corruption

Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed said that online system is being introduced in Excise Department for eradication of corruption. It will not only improve the performance of departments but also help in co with latest technology. He expressed these views while inaugurating second Excise Service Center at PIA Society Lahore, today. Provincial Minister said that Excise Department is ensuring that it will provide better facilities to the people within limited resources. For this end, Excise Service Centers are being established at far-flung areas, so services could be provided to the people at their door steps.

Secretary Excise and Taxation Babar Shafi, Director General Muhammad Akram Ashraf Gondal, Director Region A&C Lahore and In-charge Service Centers Punjab Rizwan Akram Sherwani and ETO Zulfiqar Butt were also present in the ceremony.

On this occasion, incharge Service Centers Punjab Rizwan Akram Sherwani while giving briefing said that four excise service centers at Lahore and five at Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur will be established soon. Inauguration of one Excise Service Center has already been successfully launched in DHA Lahore, while the inauguration of Bhagbanpura and Shahdara Excise Centers will be expected soon. Rizwan Akram Sherwani said that it is first time that Appointment Management System is being introduced in PIA Society (Excise Center) for the convenience of people.

Before it, the four-member delegation of Pakistan Ethanol Manufacturing Association (PEMA), Punjab Zone met with Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed at Minister’s Block, today. In the meeting, Haroon Akhter, Sheikh Muhammad Saeed, Ch. Muhammad Waheed, Javed Kiani and Secretary Excise and Taxation Babar Shafi were also present.

Members of delegation briefed the Provincial Minister about the problems faced by this industry in Punjab. Members of delegation said that Levy of 2 percent per liter has been fixed on the production of Spirit in Punjab which is not enforced in other provinces and our exports has been affected due to it. Minister Hafiz Mumtaz assured the delegation that the problems faced by this industry would be solved.
