NADRA frames former official over data leak

ISLAMABAD, ( MEDIA REPORT):

The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) registered a case against former chairman Muzaffar Ali Shah in connection with the voters’ data theft, local media reported here on Saturday.
The complaint was filed on behalf of NADRA’s chief of staff Tahir Maqsood in Islamabad. According to the FIR, Shah was removed from his post following allegations of sexual harassment, but he also successfully stole sensitive data from the main database along with other office equipment.
There is growing fear that the data might land in wrong hands. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had alleged that NADRA authorities stole the voters’ data for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) and handed it to them.
On June 20, NADRA rejected all allegations regarding leakage of its data. All four directors held a press conference at the authority’s headquarters to respond to allegations of sharing voters’ data with people.
