PCA to raise voice for the effected IT and Computer business resulted by fire incident at AwamiMarkaz

The Software Technology Park, commonly known as Awami Markaz in Islamabad, has burned to ashes resulted by recent tragic incident of fire and besides loss of two precious human lives, rendered losses for dozens of commuter and IT related companies. Therefore, government must come forward to rescue these companies that were already struggling in the face of non-enabling business environment in the country. Munawar, Iqbal, chairman Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) said this while demanding immediate support for the effective of this dreadful incident of fire.

Munawar Iqbal said that although the origin of fire was still a mystery, many similar fire incidents of fire have been taken place in the capital city in the recent past but no concrete measure was seen to reduce the impact of this dreadful incident.

He said that despite being situated in the Red Zone of the capital, it is saddening that the complete building was turned into ashes due to apparent incapableness of firefighting units in Islamabad to combat the blaze. He said that unfortunately, this was another case of negligence of concerned authorizes and the price was being paid by the business community yet again.

Chairman PCA said that as a result of this incident,  we have lost the infrastructure of at least 25 companiesthat were brings Millions of rupees in Pakistan every month and were fighting for Pakistan’s place in global IT market.

He said that government must take the right measures and besides offering compensation for their losses in the fire incident, the companies should be helped in restoring their business with the provision of all the necessary support.

He said that PCA was deeply concerned over the loss of IT and computer related business community and ready to lend them all of its support.  He said the concerned authorities should understand the gravity of the situation and take the right measures to help the effectees.
