Samsung enabled Pakistani Entrepreneurs to win more awards at Asia Pacific ICT Alliance.

Samsung Pakistan has successfully nurtured and groomed the talent in Pakistan, by establishing “The Nest I/O”, a technology incubator and powerful forum. Samsung believes in technology transfer and capacity building of local talent in every country where it operates. Subsequently, talented teams of young Pakistani entrepreneurs, incubated at The Nest I/O (Tech-incubator), have won several Gold and Silver Awards in various categories, at the 16th Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) ceremony held in Taipei city, from 2ndto 5th of December, 2016.

Gold Award in the category of: “Inclusion and Community”, was given to a company named WonderTree. Their product “WonderTree” is a platform that helps special-children develop physical, social, academic and life skill-sets, through their augmented reality games. Silver Award was won by a company/product named ‘Sheops’, submitted in the category of ‘Inclusion and Community’. Silver Award was won by a company/product MandiExpress in the category of: Retail and Supply Chain. MandiExpress connects farmers directly to consumers, to enable them to buy straight from the Mandi. The Nest I/O – is a resourceful technology incubator established in Pakistan with the support of Samsung Pakistan and Google. Asia Pacific ICT Alliance, is an alliance of ICT organizations of different economies around the world, that aims to build and enhance a mutually cooperative network to promote ICT, enhance technology innovations, capability and adoption, and to encourage the development of indigenous ICT solutions for the global market.

Speaking about Pakistan’s achievements at APICTA, the President of Samsung Pakistan – Mr. J. H. Lee said; We congratulate the talented youth of Pakistan for winning another APICTA award by showing remarkable performance. This is the second consecutive year that participants from The NEST I/O have won at this prestigious annual forum. The APICTA program comprises of 17 category awards, presented to the most innovative ICT solutions entered in each category. This year teams from 17 Countries participated with 237 groups / ideas. The aim is to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide, by providing networking and product bench-marking opportunities to ICT innovators and entrepreneurs.
