Spectrum Auction. Get Federal Cabinet approval ?

ISLAMABAD ( ABRAR MUSTAFA )

In recent developments in the case registered against Telenor Pakistan’s 4G Spectrum  in Islamabad High Court by the rest of the telecom companies, Ufone has dropped out.

This development came after the case became more political since the Supreme Court has deemed the technical arguments invalid in the case. With Ufone dropping out, only Zong and Mobilink/Warid are contesting against the 4G Spectrum awarded to Telenor Pakistan recently by PTA.

Experts also Ufone pulled itself out of the petition against Telenor and PTA with the recent inclusion of Mr Rashid Khan into its Board of Directors.

The petition against Telenor’s new 4G spectrum has taken a new route with the recent decision of Supreme Court which termed that approval for new spectrum should also come from the cabinet.

Supreme Court Justice Saqib Nisar gave his verdict that all matters relating Finance  should be approved from the Cabinet.

The petitioners challenge in Islamabad High Court that Auction held in past did not get approval by federal cabinet. This issue put Pakistan Telecom authority and Ministry Information Technology & Telecom put in difficult position.
