Mobile phone services suspend on Muharram

The federal government has decided to suspend mobile phone services across the country on 9th and 10th of Muharram. According to private T V channel federal government has taken the decision to suspend mobile service on Muharram 9th and 10th due to security concerns.

Sources said that the decision for suspending mobile service was taken on the request of provincial governments and security agencies. Mobile phone service will remain suspended on all the routes of Muharram processions.

 Mobile phones services will remain closed on Muharram 9 and 10 in Islamabad, provincial capitals and dozens of other cities owing to security threats.

According to sources, there will be no mobile phone services in Karachi from 8am to 10pm on Ashura.

Separately, the federal government announced that mobile phone service would be shut down in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Lahore, district authorities said that mobile phone service would remain unavailable from 7am to 9pm.

In addition, cellular phone services will be shut down in Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad, Quetta and many other cities.
