Expedite placement of 3000 young IT graduates for internship. Anusha Rehman

The Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Mrs. Anusha Rehman has directed the MD PSEB to expedite the process and give advertisement in mainstream newspapers for placement of three thousand young IT graduates for internship for the period of six months under Prime Minister’s Internship Program 2016-17. These interns will be placed at IT companies, IT Departments of Telecom Sectors companies, Banks and other such Organizations so that IT graduates develop the skill set to increase their employability potentials. She stated this while chairing the 34th meeting of the Board of Directors of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) which was held  at MoIT Islamabad. Federal Secretary IT Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member HR Mr. Tahir Mushtaq, MD PSEB, Mr. Asim Shahryar Husain and representatives from P@SHA and TDAP were also present in the meeting.

The Minister also directed MD PSEB to develop a new interactive web portal for internship program by incorporating necessary details of all IT companies registered with PSEB and ensure its being updated on a regular basis.

The Board also reviewed the progress on the project of IT park which is being carried out with the financial assistance of Korean Exim Bank. The Minister directed PSEB to conclude signing the loan agreement with Korean authorities so that ground breaking ceremony of first state of the art IT park comprising of 45 acres land at Islamabad could be held at the earliest.

MD PSEB also informed the board that CMMI certification of the potential companies has been started and in first phase twenty one short-listed companies are being trained. Minister hailed this initiative by saying that this CMMI certification of potential IT companies will not only help them in their capacity building but also enhance their credibility in the eyes of foreign clients. Moreover,   it will be cost effective to use these local auditors for CMMI certification instead of using foreign auditors which are very expensive, Minister added.
