USF awarded two projects to UFONE

Universal Service Fund Company (USF Co) 45th Board of Directors Meeting was convened in the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, Islamabad.

The Chairperson, Board of Directors, USF Co and the Minister of State for IT & Telecom; Mrs. Anusha Rahman Khan chaired the meeting in which an overview of the main efforts and development of telecommunication services in un-served and under-served areas across Pakistan by USF were taken in to the view.  The Board of Directors approved the Annual Budget of USF Co for the Financial Year 2016-2017. Other important matters significantly related to administration and projects were also deliberated.

    The USF Board of Directors in this meeting awarded a Rural Telephony and e-Services Project encompassing Khuzdar District which includes karakh, khuzdar, moola, zehri, saroona etc to Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone), providing subsidy benefiting an un-served population of about 294,221, covering 725 unserved Mauzas. The USF Board of Directors also awarded a Rural Telephony and e-Services Project encompassing Chagai Lot including Mashkhel Tehsil to Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone), providing subsidy benefiting an un-served population of about 120,729, covering 92 unserved Mauzas.

              Other Board members including the Secretary IT; Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom; Mr. Mudassar Hussain, VP ISPs of Pakistan; Mr. Azfar Manzoor, Chairman CAOP; Mr. Kaukab Iqbal and CEO USF Co; Mr. Faisal Sattar also attended the meeting.
