Wateen and Qubee has been decided to start LTE services for their consumers. It is big news for broadband consumers in Pakistan as well as government of Pakistan going to auction 3G/4G spectrum for cellulers in April 2014. Huawei is reported to have won a network upgrade contract from the merging Wateen and Qubee WiMAX networks to migrate them to LTE services.
Under the terms of the contract, Huawei will significantly improve the coverage and capacities of the existing networks of Wateen and Qubee to 20 fold, enabling customers to get speeds effectively up to 20 Mbps.
The Network upgrade is targeted to get completed by May 2014
