Road shows in Saudi Arabia and Qatar For 3G Auction

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr. Ismail Shah has said that there was drop of 14% in grey traffic alone for the month of January giving rise to White traffic.

He was briefing to a meeting held to review the measures taken to curb grey traffic. Meeting was headed by Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar. Also present in the meeting was Minister for Science and Technology, Shahid Hamid, Minister of State for Information Technology, Ms. Anusha Rehman, Secretary I.T, Dr.Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Ikhlaq Tarrar and senior officials.

PTA chairman also informed the meeting that about 40,000 illegal or suspected IPs were blocked in the month of January. During the meeting, the officials were also informed about the progress on 3G technology auction achieved by the road shows held by Ministry of Information & technology and PTA in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.Pakistan telecom authorities have invited Saudi telecom companies to bid for upcoming 3G auction. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and Ministry of Information and Technology have held road shows in Saudi Arabia and Qatar recently for this purpose.

During these road shows, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr. Ismail Shah even held meetings with telecom companies heads to formally invite them to bid for the new-age technology. In one of such meeting, he even met Abdul Aziz A. Alsugir, Chairman of Board of Saudi Telecom Company (STC). Dr. Shah had Commercial Attaché Waseem Hayat Bajwa from Pakistan embassy to assist him in the meeting.
