Ptcl Pay Rs. 83 million to Pta and notice of Suspension withdraw

Pakistan telecom Authority withdraw its notice aginst Ptcl wireless local lope licenace. Ptcl paid Rs.83 million to Pta. Ealiear Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed largest telecom operator Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to suspend its WLL and wireless broadband services with immediate effect.

In its latest order on 7 january 2014, PTA has termed the wireless broadband services that PTCL provides in shape of EVO 3G as illegal and has directed the company to close down all the services that are being provided by the company using illegal radio spectrum in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Multan and send a compliance report on immediate basis.

As per copy of the order as received by telecoalert.com “Since Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has failed to comply with the para 12.1 of the enforcement order hence its Wireless Local Loop services being provided / operated in 1895 – 1900 / 1975 – 1980 MHz band in the assigned spectrum at location(s) in Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad”.

PTA has also directed all the telecom companies to withdraw any support they are extending to PTCL with reference to WLL services.

The order further states, “All LDI, LL, Mobile licensees are hereby directed to terminate telecommunication facilities extended to PTCL for provision of WLL services immediately and submit a compliance report to PTA without any delay”.

The authority has also asked Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) suspend frequency assigned to PTCL for the said locations. Pta withdraw its notice after paid Rs.83 million to authoirty. The telecom authoirty have give instruction to frequancy allocation board to carry on more investigation against Ptcl.
