An unconditional apology submitted to the Court by the LDI Operators

The Supreme Court of Pakistan today heard Criminal Original No. 8-L of 2013 titled Competition Commission of Pakistan vs. Junaid Sheikh etc.

Upon an unconditional apology submitted to the Court by the LDI Operators (respondents) for filing a suit before the Honourable Sind High Court against show cause notices of the Competition Commission of Pakistan, which had been sent to them under the orders of the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan, the August Court has accepted the apology and disposed of the said petition with a direction to the respondents to appear before the Competition Commission of Pakistan on 1st April 2013 at 3 p.m.

The respondents also submitted an undertaking before the Supreme Court to immediately withdraw the suit filed before the Honourable Sind High Court.

The Honourable Court noted the reservations of Khawaja Saeed uz Zafar, Counsel for Competition Commission of Pakistan that the respondents should not be allowed to delay the proceedings before the CCP any further. Therefore, the Court fixed a period of 30 days from 1.4.2013 within which the proceedings against the respondents initiated by the CCP shall be completed.
