Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has dismissed the policy regarding delivery of Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards via courier services.
The prime minister took the decision following his meeting with mobile phone operators.
Ashraf said that SIM cards will be available for customers at franchise and operative centres. The prime minister also decided to lift the ban on the service/facility of mobile phone numbers’ portability.
He directed the operators and retailers of mobile phone SIM cards to setup biometric centers in two months. He also issued directives to ensure verification of IMEI numbers of cell phone handsets.
