Rural Telephony and e-Services Project awarded to PTML

Universal Service Fund Company (USF Co) 42nd Board of Directors meeting was convened on Monday September 21st, 2015 in the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, Islamabad.

The Minister of State for IT & Telecom; Mrs. Anusha Rahman chaired the meeting. Federal Secretary IT; Mr. Azmat Ali Ranjha, Member Telecom; Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Chairman PTA; Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, CEO Mobilink; Mr. Jeffrey Hedberg, Nominee of Data licencees, Mr. Azfar Manzoor and CEO USF Co; Mr. Faisal Sattar and other board members were also present in the meeting.

The USF Board of Directors in this meeting awarded a Rural Telephony and e-Services Project encompassing Kalat District to Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML). This Project has a subsidy value of Rs. 2,184 million-benefiting an un-served population of about 145,632 , covering 513 unserved Mauzas and an unserved area of 12,435 sq kms. Universal Service Fund Company also gave a detailed presentation to the Board of Directors on the Telecenters Project which is aimed to facilitate the local community with state of art computer equipment and broadband facility. Taking deep interest in the implementation of UTC’s Project the Board of Directors advised USF Co management to expedite the implementation and establishment of Universal Telecenters.
