IHC petition filed to closed facebook

Mohammad Tariq Asad Advocate filed writ petition on behalf of Civil Society of Pakistan (R) to close Facebook while the pages of blasphemy are closed and direct PEMRA to disallow the anchor and guests namely Wusatullah Khan, Mubashir Zaidi, Zarar Khoro of ‘Dawn News’ and the like to participate in the talk shows on the matter pending in the court in this regard

The petitioner prayed the Islamabad high court to direct the respondents Secretary, Ministry of Interior Islamabad; Ministry of Information and Technology through its Secretary, Islamabad; Federal Investigation Authority through its Director General and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority through its Chairman to block immediately all the pages, IDs containing the blasphemous words, sketches and videos against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.), Suhab-eKram, wives (Azwaje Mutaharat) and Sacred book of Quran-e-Pak as well as God Almighty; ii) direct the respondent Chairman PTA to close Facebook for the time being until the permanent arrangements are made to block/close the pages and IDs permanently.

He also prayed to direct the respondents to investigate by the assistance of NRCCC as to who are the actual culprits committing blasphemy and initiate proceedings against them in this regard in accordance with law furthermore prayed that directed to Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) to abstain the television channels from conducting such programmes/ talk shows by hosts and guests who are against the ideology of Pakistan being the basic structure of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 and Islamic values on the basis of which the country was founded.
