CNEC approves 3rd phase of PM’s laptop scheme

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved 15 projects of worth over 211 billion rupees in various sectors.

The committee which met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair approved 500 kv Lahore North Substation along with associated Transmission Lines and Evacuation of Power from 1410 MW Terbela 5th Extension Hydro power project at a cost of over twenty and four billion rupees respectively.

The meeting approved Evacuation of Power from 1224 MW Wind Power project at Jhimpir at a cost of over ten billion rupees.

ECNEC also accorded approval to Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme third phase at a cost of over twenty one billion rupees and Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Program in Sahiwal and Sialkot costing over twenty six billion rupees.

Procurement of 820 High Capacity Bogie Freight Wagons and 230 Passenger Coaches for Pakistan Railways was also approved at a cost of over thirty one billion rupees.
