The head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that he is grateful to the Governor of Sindh for inviting him. The world knows that the 27th Amendment was passed unilaterally; we should avoid making the Constitution controversial.

Addressing a press conference in the City of Lights alongside Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that regardless of political differences, respecting one another is part of our traditions, and today we are making a serious effort to preserve this. He added that he prefers to be called a Maulvi.

The JUI-F chief said that the 70-year Afghan policy should be discussed and that Pakistan must also review its Afghan policy. We need to look within ourselves to see whether our own failures are responsible. The Constitution states that legislation will be in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that legislation regarding marriage under the age of 18 and domestic violence has been enacted contrary to Islam. Religious seminaries are also institutions, and we are falling behind in many areas. If we are ranked at the top anywhere, it is in relation to religious seminaries.

He said that Pakistan’s position regarding defense institutions has become stronger, and we want to see this continuity. We must move towards the supremacy of Parliament and recognize the people’s right to vote.

The JUI-F chief said that discussions can be held on a uniform curriculum. Regarding a peacekeeping force, Pakistan must categorically not make this mistake; we should not become controversial at the global level. He added that refugees should be treated as guests, and that issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan are bilateral matters.

He said Pakistan should not be part of any force whose targets are Palestinians. The closure of trade on both sides creates difficulties for the public. The 26th Amendment was passed with consensus, but today attempts are being made to make it controversial.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that if there is any ambiguity, the matter should be taken to the courts for clarification. The world knows that the 27th Amendment was passed unilaterally, and we should avoid making the Constitution controversial.

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori said that he is thankful to Maulana Fazlur Rehman for coming. The Chief of the Defense Forces is working for Pakistan’s integrity. He added that today he personally cooked haleem for Maulana Fazlur Rehman and hopes that he will like it.

Kamran Tessori said that today is an important day at the Governor House as Maulana Fazlur Rehman has honored them with his presence. He said that an honorary PhD degree has been awarded to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and from today they can call him “Doctor.”

He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has a stature in the world and that the religious community stands firm on its principles. He added that Pakistan has maintained parity by defeating India. There is terrorism in Pakistan originating from Afghanistan; Pakistan has treated Afghanistan and Afghans as brothers and has provided them every possible help.

The Governor of Sindh said that the roots of terrorism in Pakistan, coming from Afghanistan, are linked to India, and Afghanistan should also reject the ongoing terrorism. He expressed hope that when Pakistan’s integrity is at stake, the religious community will play its important role.

Kamran Tessori said that this is the time to do politics. Just as India carried out aggression and a mosque was martyred, Pakistan took revenge. He added that the Field Marshal is trying to improve the country’s economy.
