Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement to halt the ongoing bombardment of Gaza, the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks has risen to more than 20, while 66 people were martyred in the past 24 hours alone.

According to Al Jazeera, 457 Palestinians — including 152 children — have died so far due to famine and hunger. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that at least 66 people were killed in Israeli strikes over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll since October 7 to 67,074.

The ministry further stated that 265 injured individuals were brought to hospitals during the same period. It added that many people are still trapped under the rubble, and rescue teams have been unable to reach them so far.

President Donald Trump urged Israel to immediately cease its bombardment of Gaza so that humanitarian aid could reach the besieged Palestinians and to facilitate the safe release of Israeli hostages.

Trump stated that Hamas’s acceptance of parts of his peace plan demonstrated the group’s willingness to pursue lasting peace. He emphasized that this opportunity should be used not only to bring peace to Gaza but to the entire Middle East, where it has been absent for decades.

In his message, Trump called on the United States and mediating countries to seize this moment and bring both sides to the negotiation table to pave the way for a permanent ceasefire.

He also warned of disastrous consequences if progress toward peace is not achieved.

This statement comes as Hamas has accepted certain portions of Trump’s 20-point peace proposal.
